Adolescents and Young Adults
Are you struggling with knowing who you are and what you want...searching for a journey towards self-discovery? Or maybe you are needing help with managing behavior and emotions...wanting to express and reduce stress, anxiety, depression? Or you could be struggling with a current life difficulty or experience and need support and guidance? If any of these relate to you, I can help!
Life throws many surprises at us, and while we cannot predict the outcome of any situation, we can take control of how we respond to certain situations. We can learn to identify our desires and set intentions for what we want.
In my individual sessions, you are provided with opportunities to express yourself through creative outlets, visualize and imagine the life you want, feel empowered and confident, gain insight into self, develop coping skills, discover creative solutions to problems, and improve overall well-being.
Through this creative process, I will be dedicated to guide and support you with uncovering your individual wants and needs, while enhancing your strengths and abilities.
Children use play and imagination to explore the world and to make sense of what they see, hear, and experience. Play stregthens the connections in the brain and supports intellectual, physical, emotional, social, and creative processes. When emotional events occur in children's lives, their primary method for understanding them is to play about them.
In my individual sessions with children, I create an emotionally-safe therapeutic environment that fosters commmunication, relationship-building, expression, problem resolution, and mastery.
I strategically utilize play therapy techniques to help kids express themselves when they may not have the verbal language to do so. In play therapy, toys are a child’s words and play is a child’s language. Through play, I gain insight into a child’s thoughts, feelings, experiences, and interpretations of their own world.
The benefits a child can gain from sessions include learning to communicate and express thoughts and emotions, modify behaviors, develop new and creative solutions to problems, gain respect and acceptance of self, and enhance self-efficacy and decision making abilities.
